Oliver Power is a professionally qualified and highly skilled rifleman and hunter. He has been a full time, independent, domestically and internationally, professional hunter and outfitter since 1999. He now specialises in professional deer stalking, accompanying clients of all abilities in some of England’s most beautiful countryside. Oliver also conducts specialised courses in riflecraft and hunter-craft. He also works as a consultant for farms and estates organising deer surveys and cull plans.
Oliver has also written a number of articles for hunting magazines and journals that have been published in specialist periodicals, such as the Shooting Times and the Field. Oliver has also produced and directed a number of hunting films in partnership with Norma ammunition, Blaser rifles, Aimpoint optics and Zeiss optics.
Oliver’s enthusiasm for shooting, hunting and animal conservation started when he was a young boy visiting his grandparents on their cattle farms in Denmark and Ireland. His love for animals and breeding programmes developed from an early age, spending his summer vacations in Denmark, accompanying and assisting his Grandfather, Knut Loje, a famous Danish vet, on his daily visits to farms. Knut Loje was the inventor of Stalosan – the livestock disinfectant – and is also famous for breeding the ‘Kullet Dorset’ sheep and pedigree Shetland ponies.
Oliver has taken part in many rifle shooting competitions, that simulate big game hunts, in Europe. In 2008 Oliver beat over 150 competitors, consisting of professional and amateur hunters, to win the ‘Leitgabschiessen Schutzenkonig’ title in Irding, Austria.
Since the 1990’s, Oliver has specialised in organising bespoke international hunting holidays, accompanying his clients to a wide range of destinations including to Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan), South Africa, Cameroon, Serbia, Ukraine, Germany and Austria, hunting various species of big game. The terrain has often been very challenging and in extreme, remote areas, where the wild game have been sustainably and sympathetically managed to allow natural development of their trophy heads and to maintain a high population of each species. Oliver has also built up a large portfolio of hunting tours in Scotland and will be delighted to discuss these with interested clients and make bespoke arrangements accordingly.
Every hunt that Oliver promotes – whether abroad or in the UK – has been tried and tested by him, in order to offer reliable and honest hunting trips.
With Oliver’s varied wildlife experiences, international hunting tours and expeditions, land game and wild management qualifications, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the field of deer stalking and management in the UK.
Oliver currently manages three different estates in three separate areas, where he has provided extensive land and deer management surveys directly with land owners and has put into place long-term deer and land management programmes. This enables Oliver to offer deer stalkers a good, healthy variety of cull animals alongside CIC recognised trophy heads, to include Fallow, Roe and Muntjac deer.
Oliver’s unique stalking services offer landowners the reassurance of managing the population of deer to a healthy and sustainable level, whilst still giving stalkers the opportunity to enjoy stalking in a natural environment, and where sightings of the various deer species are guaranteed.
If you are a landowner and would like Oliver to survey your land to assess the viability of your deer population, in order to provide you with a land and deer management programme plus land feasibility to increase the revenue of your land or estate, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
